To register for classes, please call 804-915-9640 or stop by and visit us. All classes require a $50 non-refundable deposit at registration. The balance of the class fee is due on the first day of class. Payment may be made via cash, check or credit/debit card.
Wheel Throwing I
This course emphasizes the fundamentals of wheel thrown pottery. Designed for individuals who want to experience clay, this class is perfect for those who have never thrown before or anyone who has been away from the wheel for a while. The class includes an introduction to the potter’s wheel, and focuses on the basics; centering, pulling, shaping, trimming and simple glazing techniques. Participants will learn fundamental skills and the execution of basic shapes. Demonstrations and projects will be provided. Typically, students take this class more than once before they move on to more advanced classes. No prior experience is required. This class is limited to five participants so that one-on-one attention can be provided for every student. The class fee includes everything you need to begin throwing pottery. First time students are provided with 25 lbs of clay, a basic tool kit, the use of our glazes, $15 credit for firing services and unlimited open studio time for practice. Returning students, or students with their own tools, will be provided with a $25 credit for firing services.
Class fee: $195.00; 8 week class cycle with 6 structured classes and 2 floating/open classes.

Wheel Throwing II
This course is open to students who are proficient in basic wheel throwing skills such as wedging, centering, pulling and trimming. This course is designed to help students advance to the next level. Through projects, we will focus on mastery of the basics, alternate methods for throwing and development of new skills. The use of ribs and other techniques to further enhance and refine forms will be introduced. Glazing, glaze combinations and other decorative techniques will be further explored. Students will be encouraged to present ideas for projects they would like to complete in this class. This class is limited to five participants so that one-on-one attention can be provided for every student. The class fee includes 25 lbs of clay, the use of our glazes, $25 of firing services and unlimited open studio time. Class fee: $195.00; 8 week class cycle with 6 structured classes and 2 floating/open classes.

Wheel Throwing III
This course is designed for those students who have developed consistent throwing skills and wish to further refine their skills. This class provides participants the opportunity to work at their own skill level and progress at their own rate. Participants will be challenged to push current comfort levels and learn new techniques. Emphasis is placed on the design and execution of more complicated clay objects and the development of a personal style. This class is limited to five participants so that one-on-one attention can be provided for every student. The class fee includes 25 lbs of clay, the use of our glazes, $25 of firing services and unlimited open studio time.

Handbuilding
Use your hands and imagination to build with clay. This class will focus on basic handbuilding techniques including slab construction, coils, templates and molds to create functional and sculptural objects. Basic slip and glaze techniques will be covered as well as the use of texture to create depth and dimension in your projects. First time students are provided with 25 lbs of clay, a basic tool kit, the use of our glazes, $15 credit for firing services and unlimited open studio time for practice. Returning students, or students with their own tools, will be provided with a $25 credit for firing services. This class is limited to three participants so that one-on-one attention can be provided for every student. Class fee: $220.00
